The Window represents the different aspects of storytelling that have come to inform my creative journey. My stories attempt nothing more than to open a window into different worlds. No matter where you find yourself in life, I hope my work can act as a port, with fresh air, beautiful expanses, and enjoyable stories on the other side.
What makes up The Window?
Designed by Sydney Westphal
Two Towers
Creation is a process reliant on community. Everything I have made is suffused with the advice and encouragement of friends, family, and colleagues. Two towers border the window to represent the need for others when telling stories.
Halo
The spiked halo adorns the top of the window so as to cast light on both the view and the viewer. Typically meant to indicate righteousness, ‘The Window’ holds its halo as a sign of redemption and clarification, themes that run throughout many of my pieces.
Book
The most blatant of the symbols, the book represents my focus and appreciation for writing, and the many stories best told through the medium.
Night Sky
Some of the oldest living stories are set in starlight, surviving through our everpresent appreciation for constellations. I strive to capture just a fraction of the magic that comes from looking up into the night sky within my work.
